Consumer Protection and Fair Trade Agency regulates the National Registry of Offenders

The procedures for the implementation of the National Registry of Offenders (RENAI) are established, unifying in a public registry all sanctions for violations of Consumer Protection, Fair Trade and Metrology laws nationwide.

By means of Disposition No. 362/2026 (the “Disposition”), effective as of March 5, 2026, the Consumer Protection and Fair Trade Agency regulated the operation of the National Registry of Offenders (“RENAI”, after its Spanish acronym).

This tool aims to centralize information on sanctioned providers, allowing consumers and enforcement authorities to publicly consult the history of non-compliance.

The Disposition determines that the registry shall include the identifying data of the offenders, the type and amount of the sanction, and the legal classification of the violation. Furthermore, it provides that publication on RENAI’s website shall satisfy the obligation to publish sanctions in major circulation newspapers, as provided in Section 47 of Consumer Protection Law No. 24,240.

Finally, provinces and the City of Buenos Aires are invited to integrate the sanctions applied in their jurisdictions to grant the registry a fully federal scope.
