Law firms Pérez Alati, Grondona, Benites & Arntsen and Beccar Varela acted as legal advisors in the structuring of a syndicated loan for up to USD 32,200,000, granted by Banco Macro S.A. (Banco Macro) and Banco de Inversión y Comercio Exterior S.A. (BICE) to Consorcio de Gestión del Puerto de Quequén (the “Consortium”), in charge of the administration and exploitation of the port area of Quequén, the surrounding water areas, and the main access channel to the port.
The Management Consortium of the Port of Quequén will use the funds of the loan to comply with the dredging work of deepening to fifty (50) feet and complementary works in the access channel and port interior in the Port of Quequén, and the works will be carried out by Jan de Nul, a leading international dredging company. It is the most important work in the Port of Quequén since its creation in 1911, and will contribute to better the export infrastructure of the country.
The loan will be secured by a fiduciary assignment of certain charges and port fees and other collection rights arising from port transactions.
The Consortium is a non-state public law entity, created by Law No. 11,414 of the Province of Buenos Aires, issued as a consequence of what is regulated by National Laws No. 23,696 (State Reform) and 24,093 (Port Activity), pursuant to which the administration of ports shall be conducted by non-state public law entities, therefore creating the Management Consortium of the Port of Bahía Blanca and the Management Consortium of the Port of Quequén.
Pérez Alati, Grondona, Benites & Arntsen acted as legal advisor of the Banks through its partners Diego Serrano Redonnet and Santiago Daireaux, and its associates Tomás Fernandez Madero, Danilo Parodi Logioco, Nicole Jaureguiberry, Nicolás Aberastury and Facundo Fernández Santos.
