UIF temporarily suspends the first presentation of the Independent External Reviewer report for lawyers

By means of Resolution No. 90/2026 (the “Resolution”), issued and effective as of July 31, 2026, the Financial Information Unit (the “UIF”) provided the temporary suspension of subsection (ii) of Article 29 of UIF Resolution No. 48/2024, which set forth the obligation to submit the first independent external review of the prevention system before August 31, 2026.

Pursuant to the Resolution the obligation to submit the first Independent External Reviewer report for lawyers considered Obligated Entities is temporarily suspended within the framework of a comprehensive review process of the regulations applicable to said sector.

The suspension provided does not alter the validity of the substantive obligation set forth in Article 11 of UIF Resolution No. 48/2024 nor the remaining obligations under said regulation. Therefore, covered lawyers must retain the documentation and records corresponding to the 2024 and 2025 periods.

The UIF will subsequently communicate the new deadline and applicable conditions for submitting the aforementioned report.
