The Chilean Government establishes an employment hiring subsidy in regions with high unemployment rates

The Employment Hiring Subsidy – Labor Activation Line is a benefit provided by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security and administered by SENCE. It provides financial support to companies that hire unemployed individuals in regions with high unemployment rates. Currently, this covers all regions of the country.

The benefit consists of a monthly subsidy for the company of up to 50% of the Minimum Monthly Income (“MMI”) for hiring men and up to 60% of the MMI for hiring women. Workers must be at least 18 years old.

Companies classified in the First Tax Category may access this subsidy if they hire workers between July 15 and October 15, 2026, provided that such workers have not made social security contributions through any employer during the previous three months.

The company may apply for this benefit until the month following the commencement of the employment relationship, provided that the application period established by SENCE remains open. Each company may apply for a maximum of 200 subsidy slots throughout the duration of the program.

The subsidy is paid directly to the employer and is payable through December 2026.

To receive the subsidy, the company must be registered in the Central Registry of State Employees, a process that can be completed here.
